Tigre’s mom, Kerry la Perla, is a purebred poodle and was rescued from the Jackson County cruelty case. Born on March 26th, Tigre is black and tan, and will likely weigh about 10 pounds. Zanella adult female Poodle (Mix) Zanella has one of those stories that makes you shake your head. She came into an animal control, picked up stray/lost, and when the owners were contacted, they came down, saw she had been shaved because of the matted fur she had, and decided not to bother bringing her back home. Zanella is 7 years old and weighs 18lbs. She is a lap dog that loves to cuddle (and cuddle, and cuddle). She has one of the happiest dispositions her foster parents have ever seen; she is always smiling. When she is excited she rolls around and kicks her legs in the air, then she finds a stuffed toy or tennis ball and romps and plays. She gets along fine with other dogs and is generally a quiet girl. Oh, and did we mention she likes to cuddle? Dixie Fiddle Dee Dee adult female Dachshund (Pure) This beautiful brunette is Dixie Fiddle Dee Dee! She is a purebred Daschund. Dixie is 7 years old and weighs about 13lbs. She lost her home for reasons beyond her control. She is a friendly girl that can be a little shy at first. No small children for Dixie. Hokey Pokey baby male Chihuahua (Corgi) Hokey Pokey is a sweet little Chihuahua/Corgi mix puppy. He is about 1 year old and weighs 15lbs. Hokey Pokey is a true sweetheart, loves everyone and everything he meets. He is doing great in his foster home where he loves to play with toys and loves to cuddle! He loves to give kisses. He does well with the dogs in his foster home as well as the cat. Hokey Pokey has a youthful personality with lots of energy to burn. Noah Bennetft young male Terrier (Mix) Noah Bennett is a super cute terrier mix of some kind. He is tan, black, and white, and has adorable spots and handsome brown eyebrows. Noah is 2 years old and weighs 13lbs. He is a very fun, happy boy that absolutely loves people and affection! He is doing wonderfully in his foster home where he loves to play with his foster sister, has great house manners, and looks forward to taking his walks around the neighborhood. Noah would make a great family dog! Salvatore Ferragamo adult male Maltese (Pure) Ferragamo, or “Bobby” as he’s affectionately known, is an eight-year-old Maltese. After spending most of his life in a crate, Bobby was rescued as part of the Jackson County Cruelty Case. Of all the Cruelty Case dogs SDR rescued, Bobby was definitely in the worst physical condition. We are happy to report that he is well on the road to recovery. He is quite playful, and rarely barks. He’s doing surprisingly well with his house manners, and loves to be a lap dog. Bobby is a sweet dog who needs love, patience and someone to continue providing good food and medical care. At only eight pounds, Bobby needs an all-adult home now and in the future. We do not recommend any of the Cruelty Case dogs for first time or inexperienced dog owners. Bessy Bell young female Dachshund Bessy Bell is an adorable, youthful Dachshund. She is barely a year old and has lost her home for reasons beyond her control. She is a fun, happy, playful girl. Bessy has lots of energy and is always ready to go! No small children for Bessy bell. Lucky Lunar adult male Jack Russell Terrier (mix) Lucky Lunar is a black, tan, and white Jack Russell Terrier mix, and as you can see by his packed suitcase, he is ready to go to his forever home! Lucky Lunar 2 years old and weighs 15lbs. This shy guy is coming around quickly and ready to become a much loved pet! He is as sweet as he can be and loves to play with other dogs. While a little shy at first, it doesn't take him long to feel comfortable and show his true, fun, happy personality! Vitello adult male Bichon Frise(Lhasa Apso) Vitello is a handsome Bichon Frise/Lhasa Apso mix. He's had a haircut since he arrived at SDR and is feeling good now that the mats are gone. Vitello is 4 years old and weighs 14lbs. He is a happy, friendly boy. Like many Lhasas he doesn't take nonsense and will need someone that understands his quirks. No small children for Vitello. Etam baby female Poodle (Pure) This little darlin’ is Etam. Etam’s mom, Kerry la Perla, is a purebred poodle and was rescued from the Jackson County cruelty case. Born on March 26, Etam is all white, and will likely weigh about 10 pounds. She was born with no eyes – but Etam has had no trouble finding her way around her foster home, and does great! Bella Browser adult female Spaniel (Papillon) Hi, my name is Bella Browser and I am white and soft as snow. I’m a 2 year old, 13lb Spaniel/Papillon mix. I am sweet and shy but well worth the effort to get to know. I can be playful at times. I get along well with the other dogs in my foster family and I love to snuggle in your lap. Elaine Benece young female Chihuahua (Mix) Elaine is an adorable tan Chihuahua mix. She's got some white on her chest and on her paws, so cute! Elaine is one year and weighs 17lbs. Mel Torme adult male Spitz (Mix) Mel Torme was found wandering the streets with an injured leg. He has had an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) and is healing well. Mel is an adorable Spitz mix and is such a sweet, shy guy. Mel is one of those fellas that sits back and takes it all in. He’s a quiet dog with knowing eyes. Pixel is a beautiful retriever mix with a pretty blonde coat. She is a happy, friendly puppy. Pixel came to us from a local animal control. Dana has a lot of energy and is a very active girl, but she has a great combination of energy and affection. She will go jogging with you then settle in to watch your favorite show on TV with you. Sonny Terry adult male Terrier (Mix) Sonny Terry is a handsome little terrier mix, maybe a Westie mix. He is only 1 year old and weighs 14lbs. Sonny is a little shy but he is very friendly and loves people. He is sweet and loving and does well with other dogs. No small children for Sonny Terry. Finch adult male Dachschund (Pure) Finch is a six year old, purebred, adorable 18 pound Dachshund. Finch has been loved his entire life and it shows. Finch became homeless when his mom could no longer take care of him anymore. Finch loves his toys and affection. His coat is silky smooth and he has very good house manners. He has a typical clown-like personality found in Doxies which causes one to smile from his intelligence. And, if you're up for just lounging around, he's happy to join you in that activity. Gregory House adult male Beagle (Mix) Gregory House is a true, blue, rescue dog! He is a one eyed beagle mix and he doesn't quite have two whole ears. House is a true rescue dog because he is so sweet, and so friendly, that even though he isn't going to be winning any beauty contests, the people at the animal control where he arrived knew he deserved a chance. With a great sense of humor, Pita will charm her way into anyone's heart. Batman 2 baby male Pointer (Lab) This adorable puppy is Batman 2! Born on New Year’s Eve, he’s now 9 weeks old and weighs about 12lbs (3/6/08). He is very sweet, loves to play and gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters. He loves to be held and loved. She is a young adult and weighs about 35lbs. She is a pointer/lab mix of some kind. She has been a great mom to her puppies Brownie 2 and Batman 2. She has great house manners, is very sweet, and loves people. She is good with other dogs. Princess G is a natural athelete. She is a patient, gentle girl that does great with the dogs and children in her foster home. She is quiet and loves affection and attention. Lena Horne adult female Poodle (Pure) One of over 300 dogs rescued from the Jackson County Cruelty Case, Lena is a 2-year-old apricot colored poodle. As is the case with the other dogs rescued from this situation, Lena will need a patient family to teach her how to live with humans. Lena gets along well with other dogs, and is thrilled at her new start in life! Due to her small size, she’s only 11 pounds, and her lack of proper socialization, Lena will need an adult only home. He is 3 years old and weighs 15lbs. He came to us from a local animal control. He has a lot of energy and is a friendly boy. Mary Richards adult female Jack Russell Terrier (mix) This is Mary Richards! What a cute girl! She is a black, white, and tan Jack Russell Terrier mix. She came to us from an Alabama animal control. Mary has come a long way to find her perfect forever home! Mary weighs 10.5lbs and is 5 years old. Quiet and shy, Mary is the kind of wonderful dog that gets overlooked because she isn’t loud and showy, but her love of people and her desire to be someone’s special dog is just as strong as all the other pups! Lorna Doone adult female Schnauzer (Mix) Lorna Doone, a 25 lb Schnauzer mix was found as a stray and never claimed. She is 2 years old. Lorna wamrs up quickly and loves attention, but she's a little nervous in general and can be wary of too much commotion. Once she's comfortable she is wagging her tail and enjoying afftection. Lorna will need a calm and quiet home with no small children. Kiki Dee baby female Terrier (Mix) Kiki Dee is one cute little scruffy puppy! She is an adorable brown terrier mix of some kind. She is only 3 months old (4/7/08) and currently weighs 7lbs. She is chock full of energy and is a friendly girl. Baby Phat adult male Pekingese (Pure) Baby Phat came to us after being rescued in the Jackson County Cruelty Case. This beautiful tan and white boy weighs about 10 pounds and is about two years old. Like most of these dogs, Baby Phat will need some socialization. His foster family has given him a huge head start in that direction, and is helping him learn to live in a house. Baby Phat loves his tennis ball, and has gotten pretty good at playing catch with himself! He is a 10 month old (2/08) purebred Lhasa Apso. He currently weighs 15lbs. Like most young dogs, he has a lot of energy and needs to learn some manners. Hurley is a friendly boy that loves people and does well with other dogs. Isabella adult female German Wire Hair Poiner Isabella is a beautiful German Wire Hair Pointer. Isabella is one of many, many dogs that SDR has met that has lost their home because of the divorce of her owners. Isabella is great with other dogs and is fabulous company to have! She is as sweet as she can be and has soft, brown eyes. She is 8 years old and weighs 60lbs. Perry Como adult male Terrier (Mix) Perry Como is a friendly, happy terrier mix, maybe with a little Yorkie in there somewhere. Perry is 1.5 years old and weighs 18lbs. He does great with other dogs, loves to play, and loves attention! Tim Tam young male Terrier (Mix) Tim Tam is one of a kind! An adorable terrier mix with a black and white spotted wire hair coat, Tim Tam is 2 years old and weighs 15lbs. He is a sweet, friendly boy that came to us from a local animal control. Known as “Timmy” in his foster home, he is doing great and gets along with all the dogs in the house. Josephine Baker adult female Affenpinscher (Terrier) This cutie is Josephine Baker! She comes to us from SC, so she’s been bounced around a lot recently. Josie is an Affenpinscher/Terrier mix. She is 2 years old and weighs 13lbs. She has a wire-hair coat. Fila and her puppies, Adidas and Reebok, were found wandering stray down a busy highway. Fila is a fun and friendly girl that loves to play and cuddle! \ Phoebe Buffay adult female Chihuahua (Pure) Phoebe Buffay arrived with her sister Temperance when their owner could no longer care for them. Louie Armstrong adult male Spaniel (Mix) Louis Armstrong is a little blonde Spaniel mix. He has a blonde coat with cute tan circle spots on his back. Louis is 2 years old and weighs only 11 pounds. There’s a lot of personality in that little body! Louis is loving, friendly, and full of energy! He loves to play and does well with other dogs. Louis is not suited for apartment living. No small children for Louis Armstrong. Nat King Cole adult male Shih Tzu his is Nat King Cole! He is a black and white Shih Tzu, is 5 years old, and weighs 14lbs. Nat lost his home due to divorce, nobody wanted to take him. He is a very sweet and gentle boy. No small children for Nat King Cole. Ginger Alexander adult female Retriever (Mix) This pretty girl is Ginger! She is a beautiful Retriever mix with a lovely blonde coat. She is 2 years old and weighs 36lbs. Ginger lost her home when her elderly owner became to sick to care for her anymore. She is a friendly girl that loves attention. No small children for Ginger Alexander. Grace Slick adult female Schnauzer What a super cutie! This happy Schnauzer is Grace Slick! Grace has spent her 8 years being bounced from one home to another. Why no one wanted her is a complete mystery, as she is as sweet and happy as they come. Grace is fun, outgoing, and likes everyone she meets. She loves affection, walks well on a leash, and has great house manners. She has a beautiful silvery coat and weighs about 22lbs. Ella Fitzgerald adult female Chinese Crested Powderpuff (Pure) This gorgeous lady is Ella Fitzgerald. She is a purebred Chinese Crested Powderpuff. Ella is 5 years old and has lost her home for reasons beyond her control. She is a gentle, sweet, affectionate dog that will make her forever home very happy. Ella has good house manners and is a lovely little charmer! Barney Fife young male Maltese (Poodle) Barney Fife is an absolutely adorable Malti-Poo, a Maltese/Poodle mix. He is about 10 months old and weighs about 18lbs. Barney is a very sweet boy, he came from an environment that was too much for him so he’s unwinding and taking it easy. No small children for Barney Fife. Bruschetta baby female Miniature Pinscher (Mix) This cutie is Bruschetta. She is one of a litter of four beagle/min pin mix puppies (as best we can guess). The two girls, Bruschetta and Calzone, resemble more of the miniature pinscher, while the two boys, Risotto and Stromboli, have more of the beagle look. Approximately 4.5 months old at the beginning of 2008, these puppies will make great family dogs. We estimate that they will be between 20-30lbs full grown. They love to play and are energetic and adventurous. Because of their exuberance, they are not a suitable choice for children under the age of 6. Umbro adult male Maltese (Poodle) Umbro is a tough looking Malti-Poo! Ok, so he’s not so tough looking, but we don’t tell him that! Umbro is a sweet little guy, he loves people and does well with other dogs. He was clearly someone’s pet before he ended up as a stray. Umbro is about 8 years old and weighs 7lbs. Umbro will need an adult-only home now and in the future. Apple Bottom baby female Chihuahua (Pekingese) This is Apple Bottom, an adorable "Cheke" - a Chihuahua Pekingese mix. Apple Bottom came to us because she was an unwanted gift. Unfortunately, the recipient didn't want this little cutie, because she had a "cherry eye". We asked for and received your help raising funds to correct this issue, and she is as good as new after surgery! Apple Bottom is about 11 weeks old (3/15/08) and weighs about 2.5lbs. Apple Bottom will need an adult-only home now and in the future. Blind Lemon Jefferson adult male Pekingese (Pure) Look at that snaggle tooth! Blind Lemon Jefferson is a red purebred Peke. He is 2 years old and weighs 13lbs. Nicknamed “Jeffy” by his caretaker, he is a friendly, fun, energetic dog. Unlike his name, Jeffy’s eyesight is just fine! His coat and skin were in such terrible condition when he was found, he had to be shaved down. No small children for Blind Lemon Jefferson. She arrived with her son, Oriole, from a local animal control. They were both dumped by their owner because she didn't have time for them. Rosella is 3 years old and weighs less than 10lbs. She is a shy little dog that loves to be cuddled and give kisses. She is doing very well in her foster home where she is getting over her shyness and has great house manners. Milhouse is a purebred grey and black purebred poodle. He is 6 years old and weighs 12lbs. He is a very nice boy fortunate enough to be given a chance for a better life. Milhouse has some vision issues that we are having evaluated and due to this, he can be a little startled when touched at first, but after he knows you’re there, he loves to be held and cuddled. No small children for Milhouse. Levi Strauss adult male Cairn Terrier (Mix) Levi Strauss is an adorable Cairn Terrier mix. He is 3 years old and weighs 13lbs. Found as a stray, he is a very gentle, sweet dog. He has great house manners and loves to play with dogs, toys, and people! He is also very cuddly and is a great napping buddy. He loves to give kisses to both humans and other dogs and his favorite activity is to follow his foster mom around the house. He would be a wonderful addition to most any home and would make a great family dog. Grizz adult male Terrier(Mix) Grizz is a unique little terrier mix. He has a wavy, silky blonde coat. Grizz is 4 years old and weighs 14lbs. He is a very happy boy that loves people and attention! Heron adult male Terrier (Mix) This irresistible little fellow is Heron! He is a little terrier mix of some kind, maybe with some Shih Tzu thrown in for good measure. He is about 2 years old and weighs 13lbs. Helga Hufflepuff adult female Chihuahua (Pure) Helga Hufflepuff is a cute little chihuahua. She is a year old and weighs only 9lbs. She was abandoned by her owners near an apartment complex. Its time she gets the loving home she deserves! She is a fun, playful dog that gets along well with others and loves toys! She is also very smart, affectionate, and learns quickly. She is generally a quiet dog but will be sure to let you know if you have any visitors! Helga Hufflepuff will need an adult-only home now and in the future. Spanx young female Yorkshire Terrier (Mix) What a cutie! Spanx is an adorable little Yorkie mix. She is only 8 months old and weighs 13lbs (3/31/08). Spanx is a sweet, loving dog. He was rescued from a breeder bust where he lived in a cage the first four years of his life. He is 4 years old and weighs 18lbs. Ibis is sweet, gentle, affectionate, and very smart! He has good housemanners. He is a little shy, but warms up quickly. Ibis will need a quiet home with no children. Chinook baby male Terrier (Mix) Chinook is a cute terrier mystery mix! He is all black with just a bit of white on his chest and a great curl in his tail. He walks tall and with confidence even though he weighs only 14 lbs. He is about a year old and came to us from a local animal control. Chinook trotted into his present foster home, said "hi" to the three other dogs living there, and fit right in. Within a day, he had figured out how it all worked and was learning to sit and catch treats in midair with the others. Since he has been in his foster home (where he is affectionately known as "Max"), other fosters have come and gone, and he always greets each new arrival with friendliness. He has excellent house manners. Chinook is a fun, happy go lucky boy. He loves to play with other dogs and with his long legs, is very athletic. He would like to have a fenced back yard to run around in and would love a doggy playmate. He is a great, loving companion and a snuggle buddy. He will curl up in your lap to watch your favorite TV show or join you on the bed for a nap. During the day he loves to curl up on his little dog bed. Chinook would make a great family dog! Cliff Huxtable adult male Spaniel (Mix) This handsome red and white Spaniel mix is Mr. Cliff Huxtable! He has a beautiful long haired coat. Cliff is a friendly, sociable boy that listens well. He is 3 years old and weighs 42lbs. Cliff is a sweetie, he loves affection and is particularly fond of belly rubs! Brunsli adult male Longhaired Dachshund Brunsli is an adorable 18 pound long haired dachshund who came to SDR after living outside for his entire eight years of life. Brunsli came to SDR with a 10 year old female with whom he had lived. They were closely bonded, and we worried when she passed away that he would be devastated. His foster mom, however, tells us that Brunsli is doing very well and has adjusted to his new "pack". He has great house manners, and gets along with all of the other dogs in the home. He continues to eat well, seems to enjoy being groomed, and enjoys cuddling with his people. This darling boy is ready for someone to treat him like the special soul that he is. Chianti adult male Chihuahua (Pure) Chianti is a special little Chihuahua. He is a very small dog, only weighing 4lbs. He is 5 years old. Chianti is a sweetheart: friendly, calm, and quiet. He is happy to be held and cuddled, and most importantly, he his happy to be with SDR where he can finally find the loving home he deserves. Chianti was born with misplaced patellas which caused misshapen back legs. This makes it more difficult for him to walk, but he can, he just has a special approach to getting around! Chianti will need an adult-only home now and in the future. Sparrow adult male Spaniel (Mix) This handsome spaniel mix is Sparrow! He is a very sweet boy! He is friendly and outgoing, seems to like everyone he meets: canine, human and even the resident cat. Sparrow is a very gentle small (22 pounds) dog. At 2.5 years, he has reached his adult size. He would make a great family dog. Lark young female Spaniel (Mix) Meet Lark, a beautiful spaniel mix. This is one SWEET little girl! She is friendly and outgoing, seems to like everyone she meets: canine, human and even the resident cat. Lark is a very gentle small (18 pounds) dog. At 2.5 years, she has reached her adult size although we will be working to add a pound or two to her weight; she is a little thin. She'd make a great family dog. Thomas would do best with older children Olive adult female Cocker Spaniel (Pure) Olive is a wonderful dog and a gentile soul. She is a beautiful English Cocker Spaniel, is 4 years old and weighs 25lbs. Despite spending her life in a small crate producing pups (she arrived at SDR with 4 puppies), Olive loves humans. Olive is calm, quiet, trusting, and very smart. She quickly learned her name and within a day Olive mastered walking and even pottying on a leash. She is still not quite sure about grass, as Olive seems to have spent her life on concrete. While with her pups, Olive pushed away the bedding to sleep on the hard surface as she has her whole life. Now that her puppies are weaned, Olive is integrating into the family and she has learned to like soft beds and sitting on the couch resting her head on her companion's knee. Olive is good with other dogs and likes everyone. Because Olive lived in a crate surrounded by dogs and their puppies she is not used to lots of sudden noise or commotion. Therefore, Olive needs a quiet, calm, predictable home. Younger children and their wonderful exuberance would stress her. Olive will not be ready for her forever home til mid to late January. Hubble baby male Beagle (Mix) This adorable little pup is Hubble! Hubble is one of six puppies born to Luna, a beautiful black and white beagle mix. They were born on July 29th and are currently 9 weeks old (10/05/07). They are adorable, active, and their foster homes are working on their socialization and enjoying the wonder that is puppy breath! Puppies require lots of time and commitment; please make sure your lifestyle can accommodate their needs prior to applying. No small children for Hubble. Solstice adult female Shih Tzu (Pure) This beautiful girl is Solstice, a 15 month old purebred Shih Tzu. She weighs less than 10lbs and is very sweet and quiet. She also has very nice house manners. We are only considering homes with a confirmable vet reference; Solstice will also require an adult only home, no children now or in the future. Polka adult female Dachshund (Corgi) Polka is a beautiful tan, black, and white long haired Dachshund mix with a splash of Corgi and a pinch of spaniel! She is 3 years old and weighs 25lbs. Polka is a fun-loving, friendly, energetic gal! She came from a local animal control along with her sister Rumba. Marcia Brady adult female Spaniel (Mix) Marcia Brady is a pretty Spaniel mix. She is 1 year old and weighs only 10lbs. Much like the "real" Marcia Brady, she has lovely light brown hair. This sweet girl came an animal control in Alabama. No small small children for Marcia Brady. Lula Lemongrass adult female Labrador Retreiver (Mix) SmallDog Rescue welcomes another beautiful blonde to our program - Lula Lemongrass. Saved from death at a local animal control, Lula is as sweet and charming as she is pretty. She's about 3.5 years old and full grown at 25lbs. Lula is very affectionate and smart. Isobar adult male Poodle (Pure) Isobar is a handsome white poodle mix. Only 2.5 years old, Isobar weighs 13lbs. He's friendly, quiet, and appears to have good house manners and get along well with other dogs. Isobar would be suitable for an adult only home or one with older children (8+). Dobby adult male Jack Russell Terrier (Beagle) Who could resist those little brown eyebrows? Meet Dobby! He's a Jack Russell Terrier/Beagle mix with a white body and a black and tan mask. He is about 3 years old and weighs 25lbs. Dobby is a sweet and friendly dog that does fine with both dogs and cats. He is a laid-back, happy, relaxed boy. Dobby loves to go on walks and is great on a leash. He listens well and has great house manners. What's not to love?! Boogie Woogie young male Yorkshire Terrier (Mix) Boogie Woogie is a fun loving, high energy Yorkie mix, probably a Yorkie-Poo. He is a happy, affectionate dog that loves being held. He is 5 years old and weighs 9lbs. No small children for Boogie Woogie. Kyle 07 male Terrier (Mix) Kyle 07 is a handsome mystery mix, probably a terrier mix. He is 3 years old and weighs 24lbs. He is a gentle, sweet boy that does fine with other dogs. Potsie young male Yorkshire Terrier (Mix) This cutie is Potsie! He is a Yorkie mix with a shaggy brown and black coat. He weighs 15lbs and is 1.5 years old. Potsie is a playful, friendly boy and he's looking for a home to make happy!
